Spotlight: Signed off last season's campaign with a creditable seventh in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at the Festival, and took his form to a new level when comfortably landing a gamble in 17-runner handicap back at Cheltenham (3m, good) four weeks ago; a 9lb rise looks fully justified and he still looks unexposed; major player.
Spotlight: Stamina looked his strong suit when he made a winning reappearance at Carlisle (2m4f, soft) three weeks ago, staying on strongly from off the pace to lead near the finish; this step up to 3m should be right up his street, so although he's also up in grade he needs to be seriously considered.
Spotlight: Likeable sort who was a staying-on third in the valuable handicap at Newbury (2m, soft) in February and performed even better when second in a big field at Cheltenham (2m4f, good to soft) last month; moves up even further in distance today and shapes as if the increased emphasis on stamina will suit him well; strong claims if that proves correct.
Spotlight: Progressive type who posted another personal best when justifying favouritism at Aintree (2m4f, good to soft) last month; a 3lb rise does not look insurmountable and he should be at least as effective returned to 3m; his stable could hardly be in better form and he's Harry Skelton's pick.
Spotlight: Unbeaten in first five runs, including novice hurdle at Newbury (2m4f, soft) in February, and he retains potential after defeats in Aintree Grade 1 and Perth Listed event (saw out the 3m well) in the spring; interesting going handicapping after seven months off with good-value claimer booked.
Spotlight: Dual winner at Fontwell (2m1f/2m3f) as a novice hurdler, and he made an encouraging reappearance when second of 17 to Ma Shantou at Cheltenham (3m, good) four weeks ago; 5lb better off with the (comfortable) winner and likely to be in the thick of things again.
Spotlight: Best effort when winning this race 12 months ago on soft ground, but soundly beaten both completed starts since, including over an inadequate 2m on his reappearance at Tipperary; may well bounce back to form under more suitable conditions but he's rising ten and still 6lb higher than last year.
Spotlight: Four wins in Ireland, including a 3m hurdle (best effort), but is 0-6 since joining Dan Skelton; however, most of those runs have been at least respectable, and he wasn't beaten far when seventh over 2m3f at Chepstow on reappearance; has since had wind surgery and he cannot be discounted, despite again having been overlooked by Harry Skelton.
Spotlight: Lightly raced for his age; justified strong support at Ayr (3m, soft) on reappearance, doing just enough after challenging going well two out; this is warmer and he's up 5lb but he may still be unexposed over staying trips.
Spotlight: Unbeaten in last four completed starts, most recently landing the odds in Grade 2 novice chase at Windsor (3m, soft) in January; lost rider early on at Ascot the following month; now returns to hurdles for the first time since pulling up at the Cheltenham Festival in March 2024; much harder to pin down than most of these and it's unlikely we've seen the best of him yet.
Spotlight: Good third to Shoot First in this race on last year's return and subsequently won at Wincanton (3m, good to soft) in January; not quite at best afterwards but now reappears having had wind surgery; not ruled out.
Spotlight: Lightly raced 7yo; battled on gamely to win at Windsor (3m, soft) when last seen in January and may not have reached his ceiling just yet, although this race looks more competitive and he's now 6lb higher.
Spotlight: 4-11 under rules, best effort when slamming four rivals in novice hurdle at Newcastle (2m4f, heavy) in March 2024; returning from long absence when fourth of seven to Nab Wood at Ayr (3m, soft) three weeks ago, fading; gets a 6lb pull with the winner and may still have untapped potential.
Spotlight: Pulled up (bled from the nose) at the Cheltenham Festival in March but quickly put that behind him and showed himself better than ever when winning over C&D (good; handles soft) in May; now returns off a career-high mark but he goes well fresh and should give a solid account of himself.
Spotlight: Veteran who showed he's still capable of useful form when winning in a big field at Uttoxeter (2m7f, good to soft; from Joyeux Machin) on Midlands National day; perhaps feeling the effects of a hard race there when last of ten at Ayr next time; returns from nearly eight months off and may be vulnerable to younger legs.
Spotlight: Running creditably when unseating rider after last at Kilbeggan (3m, good) in June, but his overall form has plateaued somewhat since his last win at Newbury in March 2024; will need a career best.
Spotlight: Won a maiden hurdle last season for Willie Mullins before going off the boil; limited encouragement on reappearance when seventh to Hartington at Carlisle (2m4f; 20-1); unproven at 3m and overlooked here.

Ma Shantou and Electric Mason, first and second over this trip at Cheltenham last month, have rock-solid credentials and should go well again, while Ace Of Spades (second choice) has been notably progressive and can post another career-best effort for the in-form Skeltons. Hartington is a dangerous lurker at the foot of the weights, but there's a good chance that NAVAJO INDY (nap) can improve again for today's further step up in distance and he's an appealing option following a promising reappearance at Cheltenham. Completing the shortlist is Horaces Pearl who has unfinished business after an encouraging first season over hurdles.[Richard O'Brien] Show less
